Our history
Hedeselskabet’s business was established as an independent limited company on January 1, 2004, originally under the name Hedeselskabet Skov og Landskab A/S. Today, we are called Dalgas.
150 years of experience in nature
Despite the relatively short time as an independent limited company, we leverage more than 150 years of experience in the care and development of the Danish landscape.
Many of our activities build upon the efforts led by Enrico Mylius Dalgas, which made the Jutland landscape fertile in the second half of the 19th century and led to the establishment of the Danish Hedeselskab in 1866.
Milestones in our history
November: With a new 2025 strategy, HedeDanmark, as part of the 150-year-old Hedeselskabet, sets a number of concrete goals and initiatives aimed at reducing the company’s climate impact and providing better conditions for nature.
May: Annual report for 2019: HedeDanmark ended 2019 with a revenue of 1,660 million DKK and a primary operating profit of 28 million DKK.
April: HedeDanmark’s construction business opens a branch in Funen. Following previous successful openings of local construction departments, the latest addition to HedeDanmark’s construction network is located in Odense. The goal is to be the preferred partner for construction projects in the Funen region.
October: Green Landscaping Group acquires HedeDanmark’s Swedish care business. The Swedish Green Landscaping Group, through its subsidiary Svensk Markservice, entered into an agreement with HedeDanmark on October 1 to take over HD LandScapes’ green care business in Skåne.
June: HedeDanmark enters the fight against rats and other pests and can now offer gentle pest control services to businesses across the country.
June: HedeDanmark strengthens its position in the sensor market with the acquisition of Countmonitor, which has previously provided IoT solutions and sensors to several Danish municipalities.
May: The construction and care businesses, Enterprise and OFS, are merged and renamed the Urban and Landscape Division.
May: Annual report for 2018: HedeDanmark ended 2018 with a record-high revenue of 1,791 million DKK and an operating profit before depreciation (EBITDA) of 73.3 million DKK.
November: HedeDanmark launches the new digital business area HD Digital, which, among other things, offers HedeDanmark’s customers valuable knowledge about nature through a network of sensors.
June: HedeDanmark’s Plant School was closed after several years of attempts to improve profitability in the face of increasing competition from foreign nurseries.
May: HedeDanmark’s key figures for 2017 show a maintained record-level revenue despite high price competition, significant rainfall, and the implementation of a new IT platform.
April: Heidegesellschaft: Forstprodukte und -geräte GmbH changes its market name to HD Silva.
February: HedeDanmark opens HD Soil Park and a new Environmental Center in Stoholm, west of Viborg. The facilities aim to enhance opportunities for recycling waste into valuable resources.
January: Skælskør Anlægsgartnere changes its name to HedeDanmark Anlægsgartnere.
December: HedeDanmark’s Swedish department for the recycling of by-products changes its name from BioRec to HD BioRec.
November: HedeDanmark’s Swedish outdoor facility service changes its name from Väla Mark & Trädgård to HD LandScape.
September: HedeDanmark focuses on its core business and sells off the real estate agency Silva Estate.
August: The acquisition of Din Lokale Anlægsgartner marks another expansion of care and landscaping tasks in East Jutland.
May: HedeDanmark’s export department for Christmas trees and decorative greenery changes its name from NORDICTREES to HD NordicTrees.
April: Publication of HedeDanmark’s financial report for 2016, showing a revenue of nearly 1.7 billion kroner and solid operating earnings.
March: HedeDanmark expands in East Jutland with the transfer of green care customers from Anlægsgartneren Arne Skyum ApS.
September: HedeDanmark strengthens its activities in the Christmas tree trade with the acquisition of the Christmas tree wholesaler NORDICTREES.
July: HedeDanmark expands its activities in green care and winter services with the acquisition of Southern Jutland’s largest landscaping company, Frank Sørensen Anlægsgartner.
April: HedeDanmark publishes its annual report for 2015, showing a revenue of 1.56 billion kroner. Once again, a record is set with a pre-tax profit of 55 million DKK.
December: HedeDanmark takes over green care in Ballerup Municipality.
October: HedeDanmark takes over green care and winter services in Hillerød Municipality.
June: Frederiksberg Municipality selects HedeDanmark for a range of services related to operations and maintenance.
April: HedeDanmark delivers its best result to date with a revenue of 1.62 billion DKK and a profit of 54 million DKK before tax.
January: HedeDanmark’s landscaping business in Zealand (SKAG) entered the Jutland market on January 1, performing green landscaping tasks for public and private corporate clients in Jutland.
November: Two new divisions are established under the names Enterprise and Outdoor Facility Service. The new divisions aim to create improved customer focus and ensure optimal utilization of competencies.
September: Harboes Brewery and HedeDanmark enter into a collaboration effective October 1, ensuring that by-products from the brewing of beer and soft drinks are utilized for feed, biogas, and fertilizer. The agreement strengthens HedeDanmark’s position in handling by-products from food companies.
June: Skælskør Anlægsgartnere, part of HedeDanmark, wins one of the largest orders to date for the landscaping department, involving planting and paving work at Novo Nordisk’s new headquarters.
May: Activities related to the sale of equipment for the Christmas tree industry and forestry move to new premises and simultaneously change their name from Skovudstyr to HD 2412.
April: Publication of the financial report for 2012, showing a record revenue of nearly 1.7 billion DKK and a profit of 31 million DKK before tax.
January: Official opening of Købmagergade on Friday, January 25, after two years of intensive work to complete one of the largest paving projects in Copenhagen in recent times. The project included the establishment of paving on Købmagergade, a playground area at Hauser Plads, and a new large fountain/water feature at Kultorvet.
November: HedeDanmark acquires the Baltic forest management company Fest Forest’s activities in Estonia and Latvia. The acquisition makes HedeDanmark the largest independent forest manager in the Baltics. The company is renamed HD FestForest and will operate in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
October: HedeDanmark takes over the activities of Jysk Miljø Depot, which focuses on the care and maintenance of green areas in Southern Jutland.
October: HedeDanmark expands in Sweden by acquiring a range of activities from the Swedish environmental company BioRec Sweden KB. The agreement adds further business in the handling of organic fertilizers and creates a platform for development in the environmental sector in Sweden.
September: The acquisition of the landscaping company Wad & Kortegård strengthens HedeDanmark’s position in the Fredericia area.
June: HedeDanmark enters into its largest agreement to date for the handling and recycling of by-products from the production company CP Kelco.
April: Publication of the financial report showing a new record revenue of 1.3 billion DKK in 2011 and a profit of over 35 million DKK before tax.
March: HedeDanmark establishes a foothold in the Swedish market through the purchase of the landscaping company Väla Mark & Trädgård, located just outside Helsingborg.
December: Acquisition of Denmark’s largest landscaping company, Skælskør Anlægsgartnere. With the acquisition of the company and its approximately 300 employees, HedeDanmark expands its position in new landscaping as well as the care and maintenance of green areas.
November: HedeDanmark wins the tender for the maintenance of roads and green areas for Favrskov Municipality, effective April 1, 2012. The tender provides the municipality with significant savings in the millions.
November: Acquisition of the landscaping company Esmann Entreprise. The company, based in Funen, specializes in the care of green areas.
October: Acquisition of the landscaping company Per Hansen A/S. The company is one of the largest landscaping firms in Lolland-Falster and South Zealand.
March: For the seventh consecutive year, HedeDanmark announces a record result with a profit of 39 million DKK before tax and a revenue of 1,238 million DKK in 2010.
February: Agreement with LEO Pharma A/S for the handling of all organic fertilizer from the international pharmaceutical company. This agreement is HedeDanmark’s largest to date in the area of handling organic fertilizers from businesses.
January: Acquisition of gardening and winter service activities from the company Davidsen & Partnere, which has primarily focused on the areas around Fredericia, Vejle, Kolding, and Middelfart.
November: HedeDanmark’s department, Skovudstyr (HD 2412), which supplies equipment for the production of Christmas trees and decorative greenery, launches a new website with the option for online shopping.
June: HedeDanmark enters into an agreement with Danfoss for the maintenance and care of the group’s outdoor areas. The agreement enhances HedeDanmark’s position as a leading provider of outdoor facility services to businesses, municipalities, and public authorities.
March: For the sixth consecutive year, HedeDanmark announces a record result of 30.9 million DKK before tax, based on a revenue of 1,076 million DKK.
December: HedeDanmark wins the tender for the maintenance of roads and squares on Amager.
September: Agreement with the Danish Road Directorate for HedeDanmark to maintain state roads and care for the vegetation along state roads in the capital region.
June: Establishment of a seed plantation covering 31 hectares at Tophøj near Viborg.
March: HedeDanmark announces a revenue of 1.2 billion DKK and a record profit of 28.7 million DKK before tax for 2008.
December: HedeDanmark acquires CB Richard Ellis’ shareholding in the previously 50%-owned real estate company CB Richard Ellis HedeDanmark A/S. The company is renamed Silva Estate A/S and shifts its focus to being a consultancy and real estate agent specializing in forest and nature properties as well as estates.
April: HedeDanmark A/S enters Abu Dhabi with the takeover of management in the company Emirates Landscape LLC. HedeDanmark simultaneously acquires 49% of the shares in Emirates Landscape.
April: HedeDanmark achieved an impressive result with a profit before tax of 27.1 million DKK, and the revenue was 1.173 billion DKK.
May: Hedeselskabet Skov og Landskab A/S changes its name to HedeDanmark A/S. The name change marks an expanded scope of work and independence from Det danske Hedeselskab.
April: Hedeselskabet Skov og Landskab A/S publishes its financial report for 2005, which for the first time shows a revenue of over 1 billion DKK. The annual profit of 17 million DKK before tax is also a record.
April: Hedeselskabet Skov og Landskab A/S presents a revenue of 859 million DKK and an annual profit of 14 million DKK before tax for 2004, following its first year as an independent limited company.
January: Hedeselskabet Skov og Landskab is spun off from Det danske Hedeselskab and transformed into a limited company.
Hedeselskabet consolidates its forestry activities in the division of Skov og Landskab.
March 28: The association Det danske Hedeselskab is founded at Hotel Royal in Aarhus. The first board consisted of the three pioneers: Enrico Mylius Dalgas (director), Ferdinand Mourier-Petersen (chairman of the board and estate owner), and Georg Morville (senior public prosecutor).

HedeDanmark changes name to Dalgas
Hedeselskabet is now uniting all its business units under one name. Therefore, HedeDanmark and all its sub-brands will change their names to Dalgas, after the founder Enrico Dalgas.HedeDanmark reorganises its Forest Division
