Measures may include, for example:
- Preserving and promoting veteran trees, as well as actively creating more deadwood
- Establishing or maintaining forest meadows and open clearings
- Year‑round or seasonal grazing with livestock to prevent overgrowth and support biodiversity
- Designating areas as unmanaged forest, with preparatory measures where appropriate
- Targeted initiatives aimed at one or more threatened species
Documenting your initiatives
We recommend documenting the impact of the biodiversity initiatives you implement. This adds credibility, and the data can support your communication when sharing how your forest contributes to enhancing biodiversity.
If your initiatives are also validated by an independent third party, we can help you achieve FSC® Ecosystem Services Certification.
