Seed sources
At Dalgas, we have our own seed plantations. This way, we can control the operations and maintain quality. This ensures a stable seed supply for you. We also guarantee the origin of seeds for nurseries and forest owners. We select the right plus trees and enhance their characteristics for new seed orchards optimized for the future climate. Come visit us and see where your seeds come from.

Since 1954, we have harvested Winter Oak (Quercus petraea) in Agder, Norway, with our partner. The collection area stretches over 45 kilometers between Grimstad and Kristiansand, just a few kilometers from the coast.
The provenance is very wind-resistant and has shown good stem straightness in Danish trials.
We have harvested Nordmann fir (Abies nordmanniana) in Georgia since 1999 and have our own licenses for section 12 on the slope in Ambrolauri Tlugi.
Harvesting is carried out under the instruction and supervision of Dalgas employees. Before the harvest begins, all cone pickers undergo a climbing and safety course. During our presence, the proper handling of the seeds is ensured, and the origin is guaranteed throughout the collection period. Ensuring the origin is crucial for our customers.
We bring whole cones in sealed bags and clean the seeds in Denmark using modern cleaning equipment to achieve the best possible quality of the cleaned seeds. All processes in the work are certified according to the guidelines of the Danish authorities.
We also harvest Himalayan cedar in Georgia (Cedrus deodara), as well as other species that our customers may be interested in.
