Hedeselskabet’s forests
It is crucial for the future to plant more forest than we cut down. We know this today.
The forest is one of nature’s essential tools for absorbing and binding CO2 from the atmosphere. Therefore, we are working to establish even more new forests, and Hedeselskabet currently owns over 5,250 hectares in Denmark.
Our ambitions are a natural part of the green tripartite agreement from 2024.
Forests are part of our DNA
Since 1866, Hedeselskabet has planted and owned forests. Based on our experience and understanding of the forest and the needs of forest owners, we have worked with and in the forest for over 150 years—and we will continue to do so. This is why we continuously establish new forests that can help bind CO2.
With our ambitions, we are a natural part of the green tripartite agreement. Here, we aim to help transform Danish land to give space to nature while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We are always planting new forests
We own and co-own forests in Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, and France, where our proportional ownership amounts to approximately 12,000 hectares in total. This includes our own forest properties and co-ownership of a number of independent plantation companies.

The purpose of our forests
The purpose of our afforestation projects includes groundwater protection, where we collaborate with local water supply companies to help protect our groundwater from pollution. This is important for our drinking water, as well as for rivers and lakes that should be good habitats for animals and plants.
Through Dalgas, Hedeselskabet offers services and solutions that support the entire development of the forest—from planting and cultivation to care and sale of forest products. Therefore, we are experts in forestry.
